My focus as a dance artist and doctoral researcher (I am not sure I distinguish between these two modes) is on community interaction through choreography, education, performance, and collaboration. Through practice-led research, I investigate:
- Community interaction as creative practice
- processes of community interaction within dance contexts
- Intersections of dance, community building, and social change
- Narratives of participant transformation (participant-dancer rather than participant-observer/spectator, though I recognize potential overlap)
What interaction processes might exist, and how do they function, within dance communities? I am interested in theoretical constructs and meanings of ‘community’* (as they exist/develop within each context); processes of community-building and formation (how is community established, how does membership occur?); intersubjectivity (what are the intersections and departures between what I am calling ‘community interaction’ and intersubjectivity?); and participation and engagement (how are they facilitated and experienced, and what is their role in these communities?
*I recognize the difficulty/futility in attempting to fix any definition to the term ‘community,’ and therefore strive to hold space for various constructs and meanings that I may encounter through my work.

In the effort to document and track my development, I am listing revisions here. I am interested to see how this shifts over time:
Revised:
My focus as a dance artist and doctoral researcher (I am not sure I distinguish between these two modes) is on community interaction through choreography, education, performance, and collaboration. Through practice-led research, I investigate:
- Community interaction as creative practice
- processes of interaction within communities of dance practice
- processes of 'community' (building, identity, belonging, transformation)
- Intersections of dance, community building, and social change
- Narratives of participant transformation (participant-dancer rather than participant-observer/spectator, though I recognize potential overlap)
